Panjaa Movie Review
What is the film about?
A simple revenge flick told in a very stylish manner.
Then why the title Panjaa?
The title aptly justifies the film as it’s about one man’s revenge for what has happened to his family. The title then signifies the anger he imposes or unleashes on the avengers.
So is this a complete action film without any other entertainment?
No it’s not a devoid of entertainment, there is enough comedy, not overdone, to keep one entertained besides the main theme.
How are the performances?
Sarah Jane Dias is the main heroine and she impresses in her first outing. She plays a simpleton and has not much histrionics to showcase. Anjana Lavania is pretty. She sizzles in the item number and that’s it about her. Adavi Sesh surprises everyone with his psychopathic act. Jackie Shroff overacts. Subba Raju as heroine’s brother gives a very balanced performance. Others like Tanikella Bharani, Atul Kulkarni, Paruchuri Venkateshwar Rao, Jhansi etc; shine in their respective roles.
Ali plays a key role and he has done a good job. Brahmanandam has provided a very good comic relief and also gives the film its peak. His chemistry with Pawan Kalyan is amazing. However his character ends abruptly post the paparayudu song which sticks out as sore thumb.
How has Vishnuvardhan fared?
His mark is visible throughout the film, gives the film visually a very sleek and trendy look something that’s not seen on Telugu screen that often. The visual aesthetics are on par with the best of Hindi films. The way he executes the action sequence during climax is terrific. The usage of Slow motion technique is very good.
How is Yuvan’s music and work?
The music as we all know is very good and has been picturized well. The background score is fantastic and is bound to stay with the viewer’s long after the film is over. He has done a wonderful job in elevating the scenes.
Other technical aspects
The film is a technician’s delight. The cinematography by PS Vinod is first rate. Editing by Sreekar Prasad is crisp. Renowned action choreographer Shyam Koshal’s fights are good especially the first fight in the second half would be treat for the fans of Pawan Kalyan. Production values are top notch.
Is HE back ‘again’?
Yes, Pawan Kalyan is back ‘again’ this time in true sense. It’s a one man show by him; he fights, he dances, and he provides the fun in his inimitable style that is bound to strike a chord with fans and audience alike. His dialogue modulation in the climactic confrontation scene with the villain is good.
Positives:
Pawan Kalyan’s matured performance,
Cinematography,
Background Music,
Taking of Vishnu Vardhan,
Brahmanandam and Paparayudu Song.
Negatives:
The film drags a bit post interval.
Violence.
Side lights:
The Chiranjeevi mark pose given by Pawan Kalyan.
‘Power’ management.
Bottom-Line: It’s a treat for the fans of Pawan Kalyan and a harmless one time watch for others.
Rating: 3.5/5
PS: For a special treat do stay after ‘A film by Vishnu Vardhan’ end credit.
